A bit about the history of Etton Pond. Only bits and pieces so far.
Etton Parish Council is responsible for Etton Pond.
In 1934 Dalton Estate laid on piped water to Etton village for the first time for a small payment. Up until this time fresh drinking water used to be fetched from the pond and various pumps and wells around the village.
1977 major pond works.
In 2022 a major new programme of pond works was funded through the FCC Communities Foundation and managed and delivered by Etton Parish Council. Willow trees were felled. The pond was dredged and landscaped. The fence between pond and field was replaced. New trees were planted. Seeds and wildflowers were sown (EPC funded). Wildlife encouragement boxes were installed. And villagers helped out lots with planting and tidying.
